Pizza, which we usually associate with evening indulgences, has unexpectedly been named the best breakfast option. According to Chelsey Amer, a U.S. nutrition specialist, this Italian delicacy might be a healthier choice for breakfast than traditional cereal with milk.
Amer claims that, although a slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with milk are comparable in calories, their nutritional values are significantly different. Cereal often contains high amounts of sugar and lacks protein and healthy fats, whereas pizza is richer in proteins and fats, making it a more filling and energy-sustaining breakfast.
"Pizza can provide lasting satiety and energy for the morning due to its high protein and fat content," explains Amer. However, she cautions that it should be consumed in moderation and with quality ingredients.
British dietitian Rhiannon Lambert disagrees, noting that greasy pizzas from online delivery services are not an ideal breakfast choice. She believes that whole-grain cereals are a healthier option.
Nevertheless, if the pizza is made with quality ingredients and eaten in moderation, it could be an unexpectedly beneficial breakfast option.
