Volkswagen ID.Cross: the electric T-Cross of the future

Volkswagen has taken the next step in the world of electric crossovers with the ID.Cross concept. One day before the opening of the IAA Mobility show in Munich, the company unveiled this new model — a new member of the ID family. For now, it’s a concept, but the production version is already scheduled for summer 2026. This model will serve as the electric alternative to the T-Cross, although the two share few similarities: the ID.Cross is built on the updated MEB+ platform, designed specifically for Volkswagen’s new electric vehicles.

The ID.Cross is slightly larger than the T-Cross: length 4161 mm, width 1839 mm, height 1588 mm, wheelbase 2601 mm. The trunk offers 450 liters of space, and the front compartment under the hood adds another 25 liters for small items — perfect for city driving or a short trip.

At first glance, the ID.Cross stands out with its original front light bar, while three illuminated rectangles on the rear pillars recall the iconic ID.Buzz. The show car features 21-inch Continental wheels — striking, though the production version will likely opt for more practical ones.

Inside, the ID.Cross takes inspiration from the ID.2all but adds its own touches. Beige textile materials evoke luxury furniture, the steering wheel has a new shape, the instrument panel is 11 inches, and the multimedia screen is 13 inches. Volkswagen hasn’t abandoned physical buttons, combining innovation with familiar ergonomics. All seats fold flat, and the seatbacks are covered in a material the manufacturer compares to a yoga mat — practical and stylish.
