This Is the Next Octavia: Skoda Turns Its Bestseller Electric

Skoda is preparing a true revolution: the legendary Octavia, which has been the Czech brand’s best-selling model for years, will go fully electric in the coming years.

Skoda is preparing a true revolution: the legendary Octavia, which has been the Czech brand’s best-selling model for years, will go fully electric in the coming years. At the Munich Motor Show, Skoda unveiled the Vision O concept—a wagon with rear-hinged doors—that sets the tone for the future Octavia and shows how the bestseller will look and feel in the future.

Like the previously revealed Epic crossover, the Vision O serves as a “showcase” for the refreshed Modern Solid design language. Many design elements will carry over to the production Octavia, but some conceptual features remain exclusive to the show car: rear-hinged doors and mesh headrests produced with 3D printing.

The Vision O measures 4,850 mm in length—152 mm longer than the current Octavia but shorter than the flagship Superb. The trunk is impressive: up to 650 liters of cargo, plus a host of practical Simply Clever solutions, including hooks, compartments for small items, a built-in refrigerator, four umbrellas, and a portable Bluetooth speaker. Everything is designed to make every trip comfortable and meticulously organized.

Instead of a traditional dashboard, Skoda installed a slim Horizon Display beneath the windshield—a solution similar to BMW’s approach. The central screen is vertical, with a rotary dial for selecting drive modes below it, several physical buttons, and compartments for wireless phone charging. Many functions can also be controlled via the Laura voice assistant, which integrates AI technology.

The Skoda Vision O is not just a concept; it’s a glimpse into the future. The Octavia retains its practicality and thoughtful design while making a bold move toward electronics, advanced technology, and modern styling. For those used to a comfortable and reliable Octavia, the new electric version promises to be a real find: comfort, style, and technology all in one car.

Soon, the familiar Octavia will change beyond recognition—and it will be well worth the wait.
