If you thought the biggest EV battle was already being fought between Tesla, Porsche, Mercedes, and Chinese automakers, get ready for a new challenger. Saudi Arabia has made a surprising move by launching its own car brand, Ceer—and its debut couldn't have been louder.
The first models look more like vehicles from a sci-fi blockbuster than production cars. LED light bars, gullwing doors, and a futuristic interior instantly bring the iconic movie Tron to mind.
Saudi Arabia's First Homegrown Car Brand
It may come as a surprise, but despite its reputation for oil wealth and exotic supercars, Saudi Arabia has never had its own automotive manufacturer. Ceer is a joint venture between the Kingdom's Public Investment Fund and Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn, best known for producing consumer electronics.
The brand has ambitious goals: build a complete lineup of modern electric vehicles and compete on the global market.
Exobot: The EV You'll Want to Keep Looking At
The first two premium models to debut are the Exobot sedan and SUV.
Their design feels like it's been borrowed from the future:
- gullwing doors that open upward;
- full-width LED lighting at the front and rear;
- a sleek, minimalist silhouette;
- large aerodynamic wheels.
The standout feature is the absence of a central pillar between the front and rear doors. Thanks to high-strength materials, the body remains rigid while making it much easier to access the rear seats.
Inside, It's Almost a Spaceship
The Exobot cabin is another reason Ceer is getting so much attention.
A massive 48-inch display stretches across nearly the entire dashboard in front of the driver and front passenger. The interface is inspired by a futuristic version of Riyadh, featuring neon colors, smooth animations, and digital cityscapes.
Rear passengers get their own 8-inch touchscreen, adding even more tech to the experience.
From day one, the vehicles will support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Supercar-Level Performance
The futuristic styling is matched by equally impressive numbers.
Entry-level versions will feature a 112 kWh battery.
According to Ceer, the cars will offer:
- more than 600 km (373 miles) of range for the sedan;
- more than 500 km (311 miles) for the SUV;
- 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in just 2.0–2.4 seconds;
- fast charging from 0 to 80% in about 30 minutes.
Those figures put Exobot firmly in supercar territory.
Ceer Wants to Compete With the Biggest Names
Sales of the first two models are scheduled to begin in 2027. Initially, they'll be available only in Saudi Arabia, but the company plans to expand into international markets soon after.
The ambitions don't stop there. By 2030, Ceer aims to launch five additional models, including hybrid vehicles, creating a full lineup designed for the global automotive market.
