Dyson Created the Toothbrush of the Future: Now You Can See What's Happening Inside Your Mouth in Real Time

Men love technology that solves real problems. A smartwatch tracks your heart rate, a car keeps itself in its lane, and now Dyson has decided to reinvent something most of us do twice a day almost blindly — brushing our teeth.

Men love technology that solves real problems. A smartwatch tracks your heart rate, a car keeps itself in its lane, and now Dyson has decided to reinvent something most of us do twice a day almost blindly — brushing our teeth.

The new Dyson CameraJet looks like an ordinary electric toothbrush. But inside it packs a camera, artificial intelligence, and a system that literally shows what's happening between your teeth while you brush. It sounds like something from a sci-fi movie, but it's already a reality.

A Toothbrush That Works Like Your Personal Dentist

The CameraJet's standout feature is a miniature macro camera built directly into the brush head.

As you brush, the camera continuously captures the inside of your mouth and analyzes the spaces between your teeth. Everything happens in real time, with no delay and without the awkward angles you'd normally need with a mirror.

In other words, you get to see exactly what a dentist would see during an examination.

Artificial Intelligence Finds the Spots You Miss

Dyson calls its technology Gap Optical Targeting.

The idea is simple but ambitious: the algorithm identifies the gaps between your teeth, detects where plaque is building up, and instantly directs cleaning to those precise areas.

The toothbrush analyzes dozens of images every second and continuously adjusts the cleaning process.

Simply put, it sees what the human eye often misses.

Does This Mean No More Flossing?

That's exactly what Dyson is trying to change.

CameraJet doesn't just clean with bristles — it also uses a fine jet of liquid to clean between your teeth.

As soon as the system detects an interdental gap, the toothbrush releases a short, powerful burst of water exactly where it's needed.

That means brushing and interdental cleaning happen at the same time.

How the Water Jet Works

Unlike traditional water flossers, Dyson uses a specially designed conical nozzle.

Its key advantages include:

  • a targeted stream that reaches directly between the teeth;
  • a pulse that lasts only a fraction of a second;
  • consistent performance regardless of the angle you're holding the toothbrush.

This allows water to penetrate deep between your teeth without spraying your entire bathroom.

A Powerful Motor That Never Slows Down

Dyson is famous for its high-speed electric motors, and CameraJet features one of the brand's most advanced technologies.

The toothbrush delivers around 245 movements per second while maintaining steady vibration even when you press harder against your teeth.

This helps remove plaque more effectively along the gumline.

The Toothbrush Tells You When You're Brushing Wrong

Most men believe they're brushing correctly. Dyson thinks otherwise.

Built-in sensors monitor:

  • excessive pressure on your teeth;
  • missed areas;
  • an incorrect brushing angle;
  • the amount of time spent cleaning each section of your mouth.

If you're pressing too hard, the system alerts you immediately.

Watch Your Teeth on Your Phone? Yes, Now You Can

The most impressive feature is integration with the MyDyson app.

Once connected, the toothbrush streams live video directly from its camera to your smartphone.

Inside the app, you can:

  • watch your cleaning session in real time;
  • view a coverage map of the areas you've already cleaned;
  • receive tips to improve your brushing technique;
  • track statistics from every brushing session.

It turns everyday oral hygiene into an almost interactive experience.

What About Privacy?

It's an obvious question: a camera inside your mouth sounds a little unsettling.

Dyson says all images are processed locally — either on the toothbrush itself or within the app. The company also states that videos are never stored in the cloud or shared with third-party services.

For users, that means greater control over their personal data.
