Imagine a laptop that doesn’t need a plug. It recharges with the sun, like a superhero that doesn’t need a suit. Imagine a laptop that doesn’t need a plug. It recharges with the sun, like a superhero that doesn’t need a suit. Lenovo once again turns the future into reality: at the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, the company unveiled the Yoga Solar PC, the first laptop capable of recharging with sunlight.
What makes this laptop unique? Lenovo has integrated a solar panel on the lid of the Yoga Solar PC, using Back Contact Cell technology. Unlike conventional panels, the contacts are placed at the back of the cells, allowing for a larger surface area to absorb sunlight and achieve an efficiency of 24%. The result: just 20 minutes of sunlight exposure provides one hour of use – impressive!
But the coolest part? No more carrying around an external battery or searching for an outlet at a café. You can work wherever you want: in a park, on the beach, in the mountains… as long as there’s sunlight.
In addition to being innovative, this laptop is ultra-compact: only 15 mm thick and weighing 1.22 kg. Inside, it features a powerful Intel Lunar Lake processor, 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage. Its 14-inch OLED display makes it an excellent choice for both work and entertainment.
Lenovo’s engineers have also integrated a dynamic charging regulation system: the device automatically adjusts the voltage and intensity based on ambient light, thus extending battery life and optimizing energy consumption.
Lenovo also unveiled the Solar Power Kit, an additional solar panel that allows you to charge the laptop via USB-C. An ideal accessory for travelers who want total autonomy.
The Yoga Solar PC marks a turning point towards a new era of autonomous gadgets. In a world where technology is becoming smarter and more eco-friendly, Lenovo offers a solution that could truly revolutionize the industry. One question remains: when can we buy it? In the meantime, recharge with solar energy and get ready for a future without cables!
