The Paradox of Success: Why Satisfy Your Own Needs?

Men are often faced with a dilemma: follow our own desires or please society. We frequently find ourselves in a situation where it's easier to serve society, seek approval, and follow its expectations than to focus on what truly matters to us. Why does this happen?

Men are often faced with a dilemma: follow our own desires or please society. We frequently find ourselves in a situation where it's easier to serve society, seek approval, and follow its expectations than to focus on what truly matters to us. Why does this happen?

Take career as an example. Building a career is a path to success and self-fulfillment, but you can’t always expect widespread recognition. When you work for yourself, you often have little support. People are more likely to celebrate your success if it benefits society. However, if your goals are purely personal, admiration is usually scarce—maybe only from a few close ones.

We’re all familiar with the phenomenon where one can dedicate their life to serving God or striving for ideals. In these cases, you often receive gratitude and support from others. But in reality, you can serve the idea forever, without seeing tangible results.

So, what’s the paradox here? It’s simple: each of us has individual needs that often conflict with the desires and expectations of others. But it’s those personal needs that you can fulfill on your own. Unlike collective goals, which require the effort of many, your personal goals and dreams can be achieved even without society’s approval.

Therefore, taking responsibility for your life and pursuing your own interests is not only wise but necessary. Bragging about your success, even if it goes against the usual modesty, could be key to personal happiness. The more you satisfy your own needs, the more self-respect you gain. And yes, don’t be afraid to gain recognition for your achievements, despite those who may remain indifferent or even unhappy.

Be bold and act according to your own goals and values. After all, we live for ourselves, not for public opinion.
