Tom Hardy Returns to "MobLand": The New Season Promises War, Drugs and Family Chaos

If you thought the family feuds in the first season of “MobLand” had already reached peak intensity, we have bad news. Guy Ritchie has decided not to ease off the gas. And Tom Hardy once again finds himself at the center of a criminal storm.

If you thought the family feuds in the first season of “MobLand” had already reached peak intensity, we have bad news. Guy Ritchie has decided not to ease off the gas. And Tom Hardy once again finds himself at the center of a criminal storm.

Paramount has unveiled the full trailer for the second season of “MobLand”, and one thing becomes clear immediately: the Harrigan family is definitely not going to enjoy a peaceful life.

When Family Becomes a Battlefield

At the heart of the story are the Harrigans and the Stevensons, two clans for whom ordinary family dinners clearly aren't enough to settle their differences.

This time, the conflict reaches an entirely new level. The rivalry between the two factions gradually develops into an all-out war, while another threat emerges around the family: an international drug cartel.

In other words, if the characters previously had to watch out for their competitors, danger can now come from practically anywhere.

The trailer makes it clear: the second season is going to be much bigger. It's no longer enough to know who owes whom money. You need to figure out who will betray whom, who will pull the trigger first and, most importantly, who will even make it to the finale alive.

Tom Hardy Is Back in the Game

Of course, one of the show's biggest attractions is Tom Hardy.

His character, Harry Harrigan, returns to a story where the rules are becoming increasingly brutal. Hardy is perfectly suited to this kind of role: he can play characters who seem completely calm in one scene and, just a minute later, turn everything around them into a disaster.

That's precisely why his return after the behind-the-scenes conflict is particularly interesting.

The actor did leave the project because of disagreements with the producers, showrunner and writer. However, the conflict was eventually resolved, and Hardy returned to the series.

And it seems the story won't end there: previous reports indicated that Paramount is already considering the possibility of a third season.

Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren Are Back Too

Still, it would be a mistake to think of “MobLand” as a show built around Hardy alone.

The second season once again brings together an impressive cast. Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and Paddy Considine will reprise their roles, alongside Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Teddy Allen and Ophelia Lovibond.

The storyline involving Conrad Harrigan looks particularly intriguing.

His position is becoming increasingly dangerous. And the threats aren't coming only from outside. Conrad gradually manages to turn even his own son Kevin against him.

And that's exactly when a family conflict can become more dangerous than any war between criminal organizations.

The Most Dangerous Enemy Could Be Sitting Right Beside You

There is a simple rule in crime stories: you can't trust anyone.

But Guy Ritchie has a special talent for turning this familiar truth into great entertainment.

In “MobLand”, the problem isn't simply that the protagonists are surrounded by criminals. The problem is that the criminals are part of their own family.

Today, someone can be your ally. Tomorrow, your rival. And the day after that, you discover they've been preparing a plan to get rid of you for weeks.

That's precisely why the family storyline in the second season could become one of the most compelling.

Guy Ritchie Is Back to Doing What He Does Best

Crime, dark humor, tough characters, rapid-fire dialogue, unexpected twists and the feeling that five minutes ago everything was under control, while now absolutely everything around you is on fire.

Sound familiar?

That's Guy Ritchie's territory.

The director knows how to create crime stories in which violence exists alongside absurdity, while high stakes never stop the characters from being charismatic and, at times, completely unhinged.

Judging by the trailer, the second season clearly intends to deliver even more of all that.

More conflicts. More threats. More money. More drugs. And, apparently, far fewer people you can trust.

Why the Second Season Could Be More Interesting Than the First

Sequels to successful series have one serious problem: the audience already knows the rules of the game.

But “MobLand” could use exactly that against the viewer.

We already know the characters, understand their personalities and have a fairly good idea of what they're capable of. So now the most interesting thing will be seeing what happens when relationships that once seemed solid begin to fall apart.

Especially if the conflict spills beyond the boundaries of the two criminal families.

The international drug cartel looks like an excellent way to raise the stakes even further. Because when people enter the game who don't care in the slightest about your family traditions, old agreements or personal grudges, the old rules simply stop working.

Ten Episodes to Watch Everything Finally Fall Apart

The second season of “MobLand” premieres on September 18.

Viewers can expect 10 episodes, while the new trailer already promises practically everything fans of crime series could want: big money, family conflicts, criminal organizations, drugs, betrayal and Tom Hardy once again caught in a situation where everything goes off the rails very quickly.

And it feels like that may be the biggest strength of “MobLand”.

Because when Guy Ritchie, Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and two rival criminal families come together in the same story, the question is no longer whether there will be chaos.

The only question is how spectacular it will look.
