Some films scare us with monsters, shootouts or haunting music. Others need nothing more than a single phone call to turn an ordinary life into a nightmare. That is exactly the premise of the new thriller “Animals”, starring Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington as a married couple whose world falls apart after their son is kidnapped.
Netflix has already released the film’s first teaser, and it is almost completely free of dialogue. A Teaser Without Words Can Be More Powerful Than Dialogue
Netflix has chosen not to reveal too many details, presenting “Animals” through a virtually dialogue-free teaser.

It seems that the answer to this question will form the heart of “Animals”.
A Strong Cast for the New Thriller
Alongside Affleck and Washington, the film features Steven Yeun, Gillian Anderson, Adriana Paz, Ray Fisher, Matt Gerald, Jacob Estrada and Luis Gerardo Méndez.
A cast of this caliber is particularly well suited to a thriller where the key element may not be spectacular action sequences, but the psychological tension between the characters.

These questions could make the film much darker than an ordinary crime thriller.
When Does It Premiere?
“Animals” will arrive in select theaters and become available for global streaming on Netflix on October 9, 2026.
And if the first teaser truly reflects the tone of the entire film, audiences are not in for a lightweight action movie, but a nerve-racking psychological thriller about fear, family and decisions that cannot be undone.
Ben Affleck is returning to the director’s chair, this time built around one of the simplest yet most terrifying human situations imaginable: someone has taken away what you value most, and you are willing to do anything to get it back.
