If you're one of those who can't resist dessert, you might have a reason to feel proud: recent studies say that those who love sweets tend to be friendlier. Yes, science now suggests that your love for sweets might be linked to a warm and approachable personality.

In this unique study, scientists from the USA, Germany, and Canada surveyed 1,629 participants from four countries—China, Germany, Mexico, and the USA. Respondents shared both their food preferences and personality traits, responding to questions like, “Do people feel at ease around you?” rated on a scale of one to five.

The findings? Sweet-toothed participants were more likely to score high in friendliness and openness. So, if your date orders chocolate cake, you may be in for an enjoyable company! But of course, there's more to the story.

Scientists caution against jumping to conclusions: if your date chooses a salad instead of tiramisu, that doesn’t mean they're less pleasant to be around. They remind us that our tastes and personalities are connected, but they’re not the only factors defining who we are.

So, whether or not you’re a fan of sweets, remember: what matters is not just what you eat, but how you treat others. And if you decide to grab a croissant on the way to work tomorrow, know that it might just make you a bit kinder.
