Nicole Kidman, Oscar-winning actress and big-screen star, has admitted that her involvement in major Hollywood blockbusters isn't always driven by financial gain. In an interview with L’Officiel, Kidman shared that her choice of roles in superhero films is often motivated by something more than just a paycheck.

Kidman recalled being asked why she took on the role of Dr. Chase Meridian in the 1995 superhero film Batman Forever. She responded, “People would ask why I took the role. I said it was because I got to kiss Batman!” According to Kidman, such questions frequently arise, but it’s not just about the money. She hopes that many of her projects stand out for other reasons.

The actress also discussed her role in Aquaman (2018), revealing that her decision was less about a love for comics and more about the opportunity to work with director James Wan. Kidman admired his horror films and initially thought she was being invited to work on a project in that genre.

In recent years, Kidman has appeared more frequently in television series. Roles in projects like Big Little Lies, The Undoing, and Nine Perfect Strangers have earned her recognition and even an Emmy Award. Kidman confessed that she has fallen in love with the long-form format of series, which allows for a deeper exploration of characters and stories.

“Working on series lets you stay in character longer than in a two-hour film where you have to quickly tell the story,” Kidman noted.
