Nicolas Cage officially enters the live-action Spider-Verse — not in a colorful animated suit, but in a long trench coat and fedora, walking the rain-soaked streets of 1930s New York. The first trailer for Spider-Noir has already taken the internet by storm, and it’s impossible to look away.

Think you’ve seen it all in the Spider-Man universe? Think again.

The story is set in Depression-era Manhattan. Ben Reilly (Cage) is an aging private investigator grappling with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero. He’s no longer the bright, youthful Spider-Man from Into the Spider-Verse. Here, the focus is on a darker, grittier drama. Ben navigates smoky nightclubs and gangland clashes, alternating between brawls with mobsters and quiet moments over a classic egg cream.

Prime Video surprises fans with a dual-format release. The classic black-and-white version immerses viewers in noir atmosphere, while the “True-Hue” color version offers rich, vivid tones and a fresh visual dimension. Viewers can choose the aesthetic that suits their mood — a rare case where format becomes part of the experience.

Beyond Cage, the cast features true masters of the genre. Lamorne Morris plays journalist Robbie Robertson, Brendan Gleeson the mob boss Silvermane, and Li Jun Li the femme fatale Cat Hardy. Jack Huston appears as Sandman, and Karen Rodriguez adds even more intrigue to the story.

The U.S. premiere on MGM+ is scheduled for May 25, 2026, with the global release on Prime Video on May 27, 2026, where all episodes will be available to binge.

If you love noir, superhero stories, and rain-soaked streets lit by neon, Spider-Noir is a must-watch. Cage as the weary yet charismatic Spider-Man is a combination that will make your blood run hot.
