If you loved building with LEGO as a kid and, even after growing up, never lost your passion for impressive builds, LEGO has a pretty strong argument for never becoming completely serious about adulthood. The company has unveiled the new LEGO Icons Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku set, a massive display model created specifically for adult fans of the legendary anime.
And this is definitely not one of those sets with a few dozen pieces that ends up as a simple decorative figure. This is a construction made up of 1,764 pieces, with Shenron, the Eternal Dragon, taking center stage as he rises above all seven Dragon Balls. Beside him is a small but instantly recognizable Goku riding his Kinto'un cloud.
Shenron Takes Center Stage
The main attraction of the set is the enormous Shenron, built in a dramatic coiled pose. The dragon appears to rise directly from the seven Dragon Balls, creating the effect of a finished scene straight out of Dragon Ball.
LEGO has paid attention to more than just the silhouette. The model features textured scales, while the head and claws have articulated joints. That means Shenron doesn't have to remain completely static on a shelf — his pose can be adjusted to suit your own display setup.
For a collector's model, that's an important detail: once the build is complete, the set doesn't become a completely static object. The owner can still experiment with how the dragon is positioned and presented.
Goku Gets His Own Spot
Shenron is obviously the main star, but the designers haven't forgotten Son Goku. The set includes a separate Kid Goku figure, shown flying on Kinto'un, the famous Flying Nimbus cloud.
The figure can be detached from the main structure and displayed separately. This gives the composition several possibilities: Goku can remain part of the scene or become an independent piece of the collection.
1,764 Pieces — This Is More Than a One-Night Project
The set contains a total of 1,764 pieces. And while that number might simply sound huge to some people, LEGO collectors know exactly what it means: hours of focused building.
Once completed, the model stands more than 32 centimeters tall, measures around 24 centimeters in length, and is approximately 26 centimeters wide. In other words, this is a full-fledged display piece for a shelf, home office, or dedicated collection space.
LEGO has also included digital 3D instructions through the LEGO Builder app. The format allows builders to view the model from different angles during construction and better navigate its intricate structure.
When Anime Meets LEGO for Adults
The appeal of this model isn't just about the number of pieces. Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku essentially creates a bridge between nostalgia and modern collecting.
Dragon Ball has long grown beyond the boundaries of ordinary anime fandom. For an entire generation, Goku, the Dragon Balls, and Shenron have become part of pop culture. Now, all of it can literally be recreated with your own hands — one piece at a time.
LEGO is clearly targeting an adult audience here: the scale, construction complexity, and display-focused format turn the set into something much closer to a collectible than a traditional toy.
The Release Date Is Set
LEGO Icons Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku will be released on November 4, 2026. From that date, Dragon Ball fans will be able to try building their own Shenron from 1,764 pieces.
And that's where the real fun begins: you don't need to search for seven magical Dragon Balls to summon the Eternal Dragon. All you need is some free time, patience, and the desire to feel like a kid again — except this time, the finished result can stay on your shelf as a serious collector's piece.
Dragon Ball + LEGO Icons + a 32-centimeter-tall Shenron sounds like a combination capable of grabbing the attention even of those who convinced themselves long ago that they had simply “outgrown” building with LEGO bricks.
